Canes Unfiltered hosted an engaging Twitter space today, led by ball coaches and devoted Canes fans Jon Drummond aka @leaderofthemen and Mike Love aka @MrLove305. The discussion featured an in-depth analysis into each position group, with every speaker providing insights on the players needing to step up their game for a successful season (playoffs?) and to fully utilize Cam Ward as the signal caller.
Remarkably, this focused discussion continued uninterrupted throughout the morning and afternoon until The Goat Gemeaux aka @BigCapRadio joined
The prevailing opinion is that the players with only one year of eligibility remaining from the transfer portal (i.e., Cam Ward, Simeon Barrow, Zach Carpenter, etc.) and those that were on the roster (Francisco “Kiko” Mauigoa, Jalen Rivers, Elijah Arroyo, etc) will be crucial to the team's success.
I believe it's equally as important to get production from players who've been in Mario's system for 1-2 years, such as Ahmad Moten, Josh Horton, Ray Ray Joseph, Bobby Washington, Malik Bryant, and Jaden Harris, as it is to capitalize on the new transfer portal additions.
In my opinion, these players must view the new additions to the program as a challenge and take it personally. When given opportunities, they need to excel and make plays. By extracting production from these players, the program establishes a solid foundation for future growth.
