New & Old Brizzer.net Hot Takes

My hot takes are trending in the right direction. I started this blog mainly for the purpose of having receipts for these takes because when I share them people tend to come after me.

Meesh Powell: Powell is better suited as a safety. It’s funny to me that a number of Miami media are now switching their narratives in support of my take, which I’ve been sharing on Twitter Spaces. They must be listening.

Previously, they were saying he’s a lock for the nickel position. I like having a duo of two All-Academic players — Powell and Jaden Harris — manning the safety position. I would still like the staff to add another safety through the portal to help push the room.

Jadais Richard: I’ve been saying that I think he projects better as a safety. I’m not saying he’s going to change positions, but given our limited depth at that position, he can give us some position flexibility.

Damari Brown: To me, he’s very much in the mold of Antrel Rolle in body type (no diddy) and skill set. He’ll be a very good corner for us. However, ultimately, similar to Rolle, I think he’ll play safety at the next level.

A few new hot takes:

Simeon Barrow Jr.: After reviewing his tape, I’m super excited about the prospect of him being part of our defensive line rotation. Highly productive, tough with great technique playing at the highest levels. I, like many, wanted his former teammate Harmon because on paper, Harmon has the size we covet. However, after reviewing his tape, I’m good with not getting him. He reminds me of Darrell Jackson. He’s a big body, but I wasn’t all that impressed.

Booker Pickett: He’s a guy that’s not getting a lot of attention as a recruit for whatever reason. In my opinion, he’s going to be a contributor to our defense this year. He’s got the football IQ, length, motor, and yes, strength to play in Guidry’s scheme now. He looks thin up top, but he’s coming in benching over 300 lbs and squatting 600 lbs.

More hot takes to come…
