Miami Hurricanes Media Wars: I'm the New Influencer

As spring ball winds down, the Miami Hurricanes media war heats up, with the U reclaiming national prominence, and passionate program fans craving news and updates.

Despite being a tiny private university, we boast the most significant array of media coverage, from YouTubers to 24-hour Twitter Spaces, each with its unique angle and platform, generally playing nice in the sandbox.

So, what's gone wrong?

It all began earlier this week with the following Caneville Tweet about UM backup QB Jaccuri Brown, sparking controversial discussions due to their belief that he's been mistreated by the program. Caneville is a UM credentialed media outlet whose mission is to advocate for players. This tweet divided the fanbase.

Interestingly, a screenshot of a portal watch list they created then surfaced on social media — a list that was available only to their paid subscribers and included Jaccuri Brown. This apparent contradiction raised questions: are they advocating for Brown's fair treatment or predicting his departure?

I won't weigh in on their stance, but here's a shocker: I am the originator of the portal watch list. I conceived the portal watch list idea and learned that my list was issued on Brizzer.net before theirs. And to my surprise, most names on my list matched theirs, except I initially omitted Jaccuri. As the saying goes, imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Now, I’m flattered that I can claim my place in the Canes circle of influence alongside Big Homie and Mr. StandonBizznizz.

While Twitter Spaces buzz with talk of a Caneville vs. CanesUnfiltered — paid vs free media showdown, they overlook a crucial player: ME! The new Miami Hurricane superfan and influencer.
