FSU Spring Game: Fans Focused on Miami

Out of curiosity, I jumped onto an FSU Twitter Space last night to hear what they had to say about their team’s performance. I expected to hear complaints, excuses, etc., but there was none of that. In fact, they weren’t talking about their team at all.

To my surprise, they were focused on the Miami Hurricanes. After listening to them try to convince themselves that Cam Ward isn’t that good or that Miami’s talent is good but not great, I got bored and moved on. Since they won’t talk about their team, I will. Here’s my take:

FSU's Outlook

FSU faces a challenging rebuild. They underachieved in the transfer portal in the last cycle, and key departures leave them thin.

Expect FSU's offense to lean on the running game. Scoring against quality defenses will be a struggle.

The offensive line has bright spots with returning production, but the receiving corps needs reinforcements. The wide receiver room looks very weak.

Defensively, the line has talent, but let’s not forget they had three players on the line — Farmer, DJax, and Peyton — who hit or threatened to hit the portal. Their defensive ends are light and will struggle setting the edge.

Linebacker talent, depth, and overall team culture are major question marks!

Spring games offer a glimpse into a program's current state, not a crystal ball for fall success. Remember Brian Monroe, our former punter, playing wide receiver due to depth issues? Thankfully, those days are over!
