Forget Jake Paul! Mike Tyson vs. Alonzo Highsmith is the Real Fight

Miami Hurricanes Legend Alonzo Highsmith Forecasts Mike Tyson's Triumph Over Jake Paul in Boxing Match

As debates rage over Mike Tyson's impending bout against YouTube sensation Jake Paul, fans might be overlooking a potential showdown of epic proportions: Mike Tyson vs. Alonzo Highsmith. Highsmith, a Miami Hurricanes legend and NFL veteran turned executive, draws upon his own boxing background in a wide-ranging interview with Brizzer.net to assert Tyson's dominance.

Having transitioned from a successful football career to the boxing ring, Highsmith had an impressive record of 27-1-2, with 23 knockouts. His most famous fight came in 1996 with a TKO of former New York Jet defensive end Mark Gastineau. Trained alongside former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and sparring with the likes of George Foreman and Oscar De La Hoya, Highsmith knows the sport inside out.

When asked about the Tyson-Paul matchup, Highsmith confidently predicted Tyson's victory, suggesting it will be an easy win for the boxing legend.

Aside from his boxing insights, Highsmith shared thoughts on the Miami Hurricanes football program, expressing optimism for the team's future, particularly with rising talent like Cam Ward injecting new energy into the program. Highsmith thinks Ward has the talent and leadership skills that have been plaguing the program for some time at the quarterback position

Highsmith also talked about the fundamentals of success in football, when asked about the success formula proposed by Kirby Smart, head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. Smart's formula asserts that success in football is the formula for college football success is 25% evaluation, 50% recruiting, 25% coaching. Highsmith's agreed with this assessment while emphasizing that talent is most important. Point blank. Period!

In discussing player compensation, Highsmith made it clear he’s in favor of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights. However, he advocates for a system that rewards performance rather than status.

As the interview concluded, the legend highlighted the importance of players giving back to the community, both on and off the field. He thinks football can be a vehicle for positive change, encouraging athletes to engage in philanthropic efforts and build their brand beyond the football field.

To clarify, Highsmith is not seeking conflict with anyone. The suggestion of him in a fight is being shared in jest. He remains laser-focused on his current role as a personnel executive in the New England Patriots' front office. This marks his second tour of duty in New England, having previously served with the Patriots for nearly seven years (from 2016-22) in various roles.

We look forward to witnessing Highsmith's continued success.
