Brizzer.net New Hot Takes; Hot off the Presses

Let’s get right to it. Camp starts in a couple of weeks and we’re here for the smoke.

  1. Robby Washington to defensive back. There’s a logjam at the receiver position, and defensive back is his quickest opportunity to see the field.

  2. Cam Pruitt is a starter. No surprise to hear this coming from me. I’ve been calling shots on Cam Pruitt since before he set foot on campus. He’s too good to take off the field. High motor, IQ, and sick hitting ability.

  3. Elija Lofton is our 3rd best overall player on the team. He’s too good to keep off the field as well. If Fletcher is out for game 1, I see him as our #2 back, but he’ll be used in a variety of ways — H back, tight end, etc. He’s a mismatch for any defense.

  4. Mesidor will be an unstoppable force this year!

Other notes:

  • #31 — you’re on the clock. It seems like you’re putting in the work, but I just went back and watched last year’s games vs. Louisville and NC State. Not good. The Rutgers game was not good either. On the flip side, he had a good game against FSU. He has a chance to redeem himself. Rooting for him.

  • Special teams. Can we please fix the switching jerseys on special teams? We’ve come too far. Yes, it’s an issue that needs to be resolved.

  • RayRay. Speaking of special teams, please no more X. He’s definitely Mr. Reliable as a punt returner, but RayRay, it’s your turn. At the scrimmage I attended, RayRay was taking most of the reps, with Robby backing him up. This is where RayRay needs to make his mark. We need explosive plays from a punt returner, something that’s been lacking for years now.

  • Sticking with special teams, I’d also like to see more from our special teams coach. Our kicking game has been fantastic, but beyond that, we haven’t gotten much. We have so much talent; it’s time to see some creative formations, blocked field goals, etc. This is where I can see guys like Rudolph making a difference.

  • Dylan Day. Just saw a pic of him. Seems like he’s benefitting from our S&C program in a short period of time which is great to see. He gets it. Time waits for no one!
